Use the Checklist below to Identify Poison Hazards in Your Home.
You can print out the list or make your own copy of the Checklist.
Remove all household products such as detergents, furniture polish, drain cleaners,
and dish washing soap  from under the sink.
Do not leave medicines or vitamins on counters, window sills, or the refrigerator top.
Keep all cleaners, household products and medicines up high and out of sight and
reach of children.
Put child safety latches on drawers or cabinets containing potentially harmful
products.
Keep harmful products stored away from foods.
Kitchen
Clean out medicine cabinets frequently.
 
Dispose of old medications by flushing them down the toilet.
Store all medicines in original safety top containers.
Store all medicines out of reach or in locked cabinets.
Keep all sprays and powders out of reach or in locked cabinets.
Keep all cosmetics and nail, hair, and oral care products out of reach or in locked
cabinets.
Bathroom
Bedroom
Never keep medicines on or in a dresser or bedside table.
Keep all perfumes, cosmetics, powders, and sachets out of reach of children.
Make sure painted surfaces do not contain lead.
Store baby products, including diaper pail deodorizer and baby powder, out of reach
of children.
Keep polishes and cleaners stored away from children.
Store bleach, soaps, detergents, fabric softener, and sprays out of reach of
children.
Store all cleaning products in a locked cabinet if possible.
Keep all products in their original containers.
Never use a laundry product container to store something else.
Laundry Area
Keep insect sprays and weed killers in a locked area.
Keep gasoline and other car products in a locked area.
Keep turpentine and paint products in a locked area.
Store all products in their original container.
Garage and/or Basement Area
Yard
Sweep spider webs away from the house.
Know the botanical name of all garden plants.
Keep trash containers covered to avoid bees and wasps.
Store alcoholic beverages out of reach of children.
Do not use leaded paint and call a professional to remove any leaded paint already
in your house.
Keep ashtrays empty and clean.
Know the botanical name of all household plants.
Keep toxic plants out of reach of children.
