The American Association of Poison Control Centers (AAPCC)
accredits poison control centers that meet specific criteria.

The American Board of Applied Toxicology (ABAT) was
established by the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology
(AACT) to provide special recognition to clinical toxicology
practitioners (other than physicians and veterinarians) who
have demonstrated exceptional knowledge, experience, and
competence. Candidates for membership must be active
members of the AACT who meet credentialing criteria
established by the ABAT Certification Committee and must
take an in-depth ABAT Certification Examination.  Candidates
who pass the examination are awarded the status of Diplomat
of the American Board of Applied Toxicology and must
demonstrate continued competence for licensure renewal
every 5 years.

The American Academy of Clinical Toxicology (AACT) is a
multi-disciplinary organization for the purpose of uniting
scientist and clinicians in the advancement of research,
education, prevention and treatment of diseases caused by
chemicals, drugs and other toxins. Members who have been
active for at least seven years and who have demonstrated
significant contributions to the organization and the
discipline of clinical toxicology are eligible for recognition as
a Fellow of the AACT. Fellows are selected through a peer
review process.

The American Association of Poison Control Centers

Information who have met specific criteria set forth by
AAPCC and who successfully take a Certification
Examination.

The American College of Medical Toxicology (ACMT) is a
nonprofit organization of physicians specializing in medical
toxicology, a medical subspecialty officially recognized by
the American Board of Medical Specialties. The mission of
the ACMT is to advance the science and practice of
medical toxicology and to ensure that patients exposed to
poisons and toxic substances receive optimal care by
qualified medical toxicologists.
